Agartal : Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday emphasized proper training of sports talents.
Addressing an event at Agartala, he said, “There is no shortage of talents in the field of sports. We are also developing infrastructure. If they are trained properly, they will surely bring us glory.”
The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of practice and fitness of players towards achieving success. In case of maintaining fitness, he suggested to include Yoga and parts of gymnastics in the training.
The Chief Minister was attending the felicitation and award distribution ceremony organized by the Tripura Cricket Association at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
He urged the officials of Tripura Cricket Association to strive for excellence, aiming to bring glory to Tripura at national and international levels. He said, development of sports sector and players should be the only goal.
Highlighting the development of sports infrastructures in the state, the Chief Minister referred to on-going international stadium project at Narsinghgarh.
He said, despite several challenges, the stadium of international standard is being developed at Narsinghgarh. He marked shortage of space for movement of vehicles as one of the problems.
In this context, he said, an instruction has been passed to the District Magistrate and officials concerned to look after the issue. He said, if necessary, land will be acquired and handed over to the TCA for proper arrangement in regards to the stadium.
Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Tinku Roy, Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal and honorary TCA president Tapan Lodh among other dignitaries were present in the event.
