Agartala : Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today attended the launch of the State Level Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
Addressing the event, Dr. Saha said that today is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and on this occasion, a series of programmes have been scheduled from September 17 to October 2. As part of this, it has been decided to observe Swachh Utsav.
He mentioned that the birthday of PM Modi is being celebrated across the country. Recalling that in 2014, on October 2, PM Modi launched the Swachhata Abhiyan, which has now become a massive people’s movement.
He also highlighted the efforts of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) in ensuring proper waste disposal, placing dustbins, and maintaining cleanliness.
Dr. Saha further appealed to all citizens to not only keep their surroundings clean but also purify their hearts and inner selves to build a clean society and state.
During the programme, Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Secretary PWD Brijesh Pandey, Secretary Urban Development Abhishek Singh, Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar, and several other dignitaries were present.
